MISSION
To live and share the spirit of Seva by building meaningful connections between the Gurdwara and the wider community. We champion inclusion, dignity and dialogue through education, social action and interfaith partnerships, ensuring the Gurdwara remains a welcoming sanctuary for all.

OUTREACH
OUTREACH & COMMUNITY SERVICE
Building Bridges, Serving Our Community, and Amplifying Sikh Representation
At Guru Nanak Gurdwara Camberley, outreach is more than an activity. It is living the core Sikh principle, seva. We are committed to fostering open and positive relationships with the wider community, sharing the values of Sikhi, and providing practical support to those in need.
OBJECTIVES
1 - Champion Sikh Inclusion and Education Across Schools
We offer high quality, engaging workshops, talks and Gurdwara visits to help students learn about Sikh beliefs and values.
2 - Build Strong Relationships and Raise Public Awareness of Sikhi
We strengthen connections with communities, services and local partners, ensuring Sikh identity, values and beliefs are visible and understood across Surrey.
3 - Deliver Seva Through Compassionate Community Action
We serve the wider community in line with Sikh value of seva, equality, compassion and dignity.
REPRESENTATION & ENGAGEMENT
Increasing Sikh representation - we recognise that the Sikh community is underrepresented in many local and regional spheres. Our outreach work aims to actively bridge this gap.
ENGAGING AUTHORITIES
Building relationships with local councils, government bodies, the police and health services to ensure the needs and perspectives of the Sikh community are considered in local decision making.
CIVIC PARTICIPATION
Encouraging and supporting members of the sangat to step forward for roles in public life, including volunteering, joining professional networks or engaging in local issues.
POSITIVE VISIBILITY
Showcasing the positive contributions of the Sikh faith through seva and community values across Surrey and beyound.
JOURNEY
Since opening in May 2025, our outreach has grown into a genuinely active presence across Surrey. We have visited schools across the country and welcomed classes into the Gurdwara for learning visits. We have hosted Scouts, Cubs, and community groups, and taken part in inter-faith forums and council events. Our volunteers have carried out gardening seva at local churches, supported Woking Hospice with pastoral care work, and worked with partners on street langar outreach. We hosted a police race awareness meeting at the Gurdwara, creating open and honest discussion around safety and inclusion. We have also welcomed many residents visiting a Gurdwara for the first time, giving them space to learn, reflect and feel part of the community. Every school engagement, seva project, partnership meeting and community visit has helped built trust, strengthen relationships and make Sikh values visible in public life.
GET INVOLVED
Our outreach work depends on the support of volunteers. If you would like to play a part in the Gurdwara's growing work in the local community, there are several ways to get involved.
VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME
Join the team and offer a few hours each week or month. Volunteers help with event logistics, organising projects, preparing materials and supporting the smooth running of our community activities.
SCHOOL VISITS
We regularly visit schools across Surrey to share Sikh values, answer questions and build understanding. Volunteers can join us on these visits to assist with set-up, guide activities and support the delivery of engaging sessions for pupils.
COMMUNITY PROJECTS
From church-gardening seva to inter-faith events, hospice support and street langar outreach, volunteers help us build meaningful connections across the local area.
If you have questions or would like to get involved, please contact us by emailing kam.kaur@gngc.org.
