Guru Nanak Gurdwara is to serve as a center of seva, discipline, and moral values - uniting the local Sikh community in a Gurdwara rooted in spiritual growth, education, and collective progress, free from politics and financial targets.

LANGAR
WHAT IS LANGAR?
Langar is a Sikh tradition orchestrated in 1481 and has been in effect for over 500 years. It is free food that provided for all which has been supplied, prepared, and served through volunteers. This was established for numerous reasons, but most notably to provide human necessities free of charge, and to reaffirm equality of all people irrespective of class, age, gender, race, religion, creed or other segregating distinctions.

SEVA
Langar is operated by the sangat. That means there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. The ways in which you can help include, but are not limited to:

Hall setup
We are happy to provide shadowing and coaching for new sevadars and those need a little help finding their feet.
At this current time, we are especially looking for support on Sundays as this is a busy peak-time for us.

REQUIREMENTS
In the fast-paced, action-packed, life-changing world of langar seva, there are some guidelines to follow which effect the types of foods permitted to enter the Gurdwara and what can be served.

We understand occasionally foods containing nuts or eggs may be brought without wrong-intent, therefore, as a precautionary guideline we strongly recommend reading the ingredient-information beforehand.
